When I was younger, I made a lot of really dumb decisions, but I didn’t have to. I got myself into a lot of horrible situations. I once went to meet a guy in a bad part of town, and they were shooting over there. Though I tried to pretend that it was normal, I quickly found myself down on the ground praying. I thank God for His mercy and His grace, because I survived it. I actually had forgotten about it because I’ve been through much worse. Fortunately I can say: I’ve had a whole lot better happen to me. So much good stuff that I had forgotten all about this incident.
I often wonder why people hurt themselves by doing the things that they do that have no real meaning? I think I know a good answer. Not the only answer you see because there is never really just one. Here’s my answer: They are chasing a dream.
I was raised in a very small house. As I sit typing, I am in a very small den. It’s about 10 feet by 10 feet; yet I recall that our Living Room was that size. We never sat in it, there was no room. We sat in the Dining Room, it was an inch bigger. I thank the Lord that we had a basement that was huge. (not by today’s standards though)
BOTTOM LINE: We saw a better life through television and magazines and we were all convinced to chase a dream.
