A BAD IDEA!
You’ve just been diagnosed with a serious illness…the thought comes to your mind: “Tell no one.” That thought could kill you.
I’ll tell you why that’s not such a good idea. It’s an act that’s out of faith and it can isolate you and be devastating to you.
In our society it is typical behavior amongst many people to keep it a secret when we receive a bad report from the doctor. Some people have it worst than others. We need a balance in life; it’s in our best interest to avoid extremes. I don’t know of any stories in the bible where people were sick and said: “No one is to know.”
In fact, quite the opposite; people were healed because they went publicly to Jesus himself to get healed or someone else came to get their healing for them. Their decision not to keep their illness or disease a “secret” is what saved them. Secrets are no good to anyone when it comes to getting your healing.
Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. James 5: 16 Amplified Bible
