Not of the Ordinary By Elaine Davenport ( Thursday, June 20, 2007)

The only things that I had going for me some years ago, when I found out that I had cancer were:

1.Faith

2.My reverence for God

3.God’s Love for me

4. God’s mercy and compassion

5.A strong foundation in Christ

That’s all I had. That wasn’t enough for me to fight the battle that lied ahead of me, so God sent reinforcements.

I’ll be honest. I have five minutes to tell you this. It’s 5 am and I’m on my way to prayer. So here’s what happened. I just happened to go to the bank and see a friend from thirty years ago, who hearing part of my plight was “on the ready” to get me into an assembly of believers; where my faith could be built up for my healing. I was willing. I accepted the invitation not knowing what to expect. As I entered the sanctuary, I said: Lord, if this is the place where you want me to be they need to be talking about healing. Sure enough, when I got inside; I heard an on time message for healing that changed the course of my life. It was the life raft that I needed.

God is a God of Divine appointments and connections. Don’t hesitate to ask Him for what You need and for what you can do to serve Him.

In Ephesians Six verses ten through eighteen it says: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

This was more of what I needed to fight the battle; which by the way, I won!

P.S.  The cancer I had is NOT in remission; it’s gone!  They couldn’t find it and were slow to declare it because they said the tissue “looked” so suspicious.  The pathologists were mystified…Praise God!
