Is Forgiveness your problem? by Elaine Davenport (Friday, October 5, 2007)

Hurt or pain are terrible,  It’s worse when you hold onto them.

I was praying for change in my life and I felt that it was most urgent.   There was a matter where I genuinely needed an answer and I had not received it.  I was wondering when; not why.  My focus should have been more on the why part.  One morning I awakened and went to prayer; it was quite early.  My prayer life has developed and grew since I began doing this.  This day, after Corporate prayer ended; I sat down and heard the following:

Make a list of  the people that you need to forgive.

That night, I sat down to make the list…it was two pages long.  There were at least two columns on each page.  I went to the Word of God and this is what I found:

I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25) And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”  Mark 11:   23-25

I could clearly tell that my problem was “like” a mountain.  It needed to be moved out of the way.  Does this apply to healing from sickness, disease or anything in that realm?  You better believe that it does!

Forgive Forgive Forgive

Forgive what they did to you.  Forgive what they said to you.  Forgive what they said about you.  Do not parttially forgive.  Forgive all the way.  You have to, you have no other choice.   Ask yourself:  does the offense mean more than your healing?

Okay, so I made the list and that wasn’t the end of it.  I went over each name and called off forgiven after checking with my heart.  Yet there were two names that I was having trouble with.     I didn’t want to scratch them off almost as if my not forgiving them would do something to them instead of me. I had not seen either of them in a few years.  Yet in reality it took me two years to forgive them and move on.  It would never take me that long after that but that one time it did.  Was it disobedience or lack of experience.  God is merciful but I’d say it was both.  I repented and moved on.  Not long after that; my prayers were answered.

Matthew 6:14 – For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Mark 11:25 – And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

So, as you stand praying, forgive and remember that:  YOUR FORGIVENESS MAY LEAD TO YOUR  BREAKTHROUGH!   Stand in faith friend…stand in faith.
