*** Sometimes you have to step out on faith. You can’t always go by what other people say especially when it comes to the things of God. They operate based on common sense. Faith doesn’t operate like that. Common sense may say you’re going to die. But God says you will live and not die. Common sense may say you can’t find the right doctor. But God says He’ll supply all of your needs according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Common sense ignores the promises of God. But don’t you. Press in and get your healing. This story is a faith builder. Often people around you may not understand what you are doing. You are not a victim; build yourself up. Even in your challenge, God may need you to minister to other people; people who may in fact be: CLUELESS!
I believe along with many others that Luke the physician wrote the Book of Acts. In Acts, the disciples meet with Jesus after he has ascended into heaven. He stays with them for forty days. He asks them to remain in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes and this is what will fuel our discussion today regarding your healing.
The disciples were clear that Jesus had rose from the dead and that he was still alive. The disciples understood that they needed to wait on the Holy Spirit. The disciples decided they needed to replace Judas who had betrayed Jesus. They drew lots and picked Matthias.
The disciples were in constant prayer and the women joined them even Mary the mother of Jesus.
One day they were all in an upper room of a house praying all on one accord when an unusual wind came in. Before they knew it, all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues as the Spirit enabled them. They weren’t afraid because before Jesus left his instructions to them were to stay there and wait for the Holy Spirit. Did they sit around? Well yes and no. They may have sat around, but indeed they stayed prayerful. They stayed on one accord and they stayed in faith. They were in expectation of what God had promised. Hallelujah!
NOW THE STORY GETS GOOD:
I NEED FOR YOU TO READ THIS; IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO YOUR HEALING. AT FIRST YOU MAY NOT GET IT, BUT I WILL HAPPILY EXPLAIN:
5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7Utterly amazed, they asked: “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11(both Jews and converts to Judaism Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
THESE WERE DECENT GOD FEARING PEOPLE WHO HEARD THIS AND IT MADE NO SENSE TO THEM. THEY COULDN’T FIGURE IT OUT. I THINK ABOUT PEOPLE IN OUR MODERN WORLD WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE THINGS OF GOD…AND THEY SAY HOW CAN THIS BE? I COULD GIVE YOU A LONG LIST INCLUDING CHRISTIANS, BUT THAT WILL JUST GET US OFF TRACK.
People may not understand your belief that you can be healed, but hold on to the promises of God. Let’s look at what happens next.
13Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.[b]“
SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T UNDERSTAND JUST MADE FUN OF THEM. THEY LABELED THEM AS INEBRIATED OR DRUNK.
Peter saw this and decided to clarify matters. This is good.
Peter Addresses the Crowd
14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17″ ‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[c]
PETER EXPLAINED TO THEM: HEY IT’S ONLY 9 IN THE MORNING…THEY’RE NOT DRUNK, THIS WAS PROPHESIED IN THE BOOK OF JOEL< READ YOUR BIBLE AND THEN HE DECLARED THE PROPHECY. COULD ANYONE REFUTE THAT? No, IT DOESN’T SEEM THAT THEY COULD AT THAT TIME.
PETER GOES ON TO SAY:
22″Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,[d] put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25David said about him:
” ‘I saw the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
26Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will live in hope,
27because you will not abandon me to the grave,
nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
28You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.’[e]
PETER CONTINUES TO LAY OUT THE CASE FOR JESUS:
29″Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ,[f] that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. 32God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. 33Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. 34For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
” ‘The Lord said to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
35until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.” ‘[g]
36″Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
MOST OF THE PEOPLE REALIZE THE TRUTH:
37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
AS A RESULT OF PETERS MESSAGE: 3,000 NEW CONVERTS CAME FORTH THAT DAY AND THE EARLY CHURCH WAS BORN.
NOW LISTEN TO THIS FROM THE END OF ACTS 2:
42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
LOOK BACK AT VERSE 42 TO READ ABOUT HOW THE MANY WONDERS AND MIRACULOUS SIGNS CAME ABOUT:
* THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO THE APOSTLES TEACHING & FELLOWSHIP
* THEY BROKE BREAD TOGETHER
* THEY PRAYED TOGETHER
* READ HOW THEY STAYED TOGETHER AS A UNIT, PRAISED GOD AND ENJOYED FAVOR.
But my point in all of this is that originally the consensus was clueless. But the people in the know who knew the promises of God and believed the truth of the Word of God and stayed faithful were able to convince those out of the loop of the truth. If you need healing, get in to the Word of God and the fellowship of other faith people and get your healing. Do not fret about people who don’t understand what you are doing. Stay in God’s presence, stay prayerful.
