Throw someone a Life Raft! by Elaine Davenport (Friday, June 15, 2007)

Today, is a different day and challenges lie in front of each of us. Despite what you may be facing; I encourage you to take time out to pray for someone else. i encourage you to do something for someone else. It’s easy to pray for ourselves. It’s easy to get our eyes on ourselves, our problems . Perhaps, a bit more of a challenge to focus unselfishly on others. In a society where we’re allowed freedom of expression, many tend to openly criticize a lot that goes on. I encourage those that are willing to pray for and do something good for other people. Who’s going to do it if you don’t. You are important and you are necessary. I thank you.

Someone that you know is facing a circumstance far worse than you are and they need your help. Will you throw them a life raft? You may be moved to help someone move, give someone food, pray for someone’s healing, visit the sick, give shelter or do something that is placed on your heart; but it won’t happen if you’re not willing. I think about Job and how he was delivered when despite all that he faced; he decided to pray for his friends. That’s a word for you. Grab hold.

NOW LISTEN…

I’ve been delivered of trying to get the approval of others.  You can’t please 100% of the people 100% of the time!  So, knowing that; I’ll tell you the truth.  If you really want to throw someone a life raft tell them about Jesus.  Hillary Clinton was quoted as saying that she doesn’t wear her religion on her sleeves.  I don’t like religion or a system that is all caught up in tradition.    I love Jesus!  I love the Bible!  I love the fact that God’s Word is alive.  I wear my beliefs on my sleeve!  I am not asamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; of course I’m not political either.  Tell them the story of salvation and what it really means.  Tell them how they’ve been redeemed  from sickness, poverty and spiritual death.  TELL THEM.  The baton has been passed to you.

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Isaiah 1: 19

Love Thy Neighbor

Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke [reason with] thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.

– Leviticus 19: 17-18 (KJV)

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4
